Valdez tips hat to Lady Fighting Maroons
It may be the battle of Katipunan but Alyssa Valdez does not have an ounce of bad blood for University of the Philippines.
Valdez’ Ateneo trounced the Lady Fighting Maroons, 25-18, 26-24, 20-25, 25-15, in the preliminaries of the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference.
Article continues after this advertisement“This is the battle of Katipunan and UP really gave a good fight,” Valdez said as she finished with 29 points. “Everyone in UP really played well.”
Valdez was impressed with Jewel Lai, Maristela Layug, Maria Molde, Marian Buitre, Justine Dorog, and Diana Carlos.
Dorog, Carlos, and Molde led UP with 14, 12, and 10 points respectively.
Article continues after this advertisement“Everyone in UP played like a team today,” Valdez said. “Even though there were a lot of rookies in that team, they played like experienced players against us.”
Layug, Molde, Dorog, and Carlos are all rookies for the upcoming UAAP season and have caught the eye of the reigning MVP.
