The past, present and future stars of Philippine basketball aligned in an exhibition game dubbed as the Nike Rise Legacy Night on Tuesday at House of Rise in Mandaluyong.
Youth trumped experience when Team Destiny, bannered by 17-year-old sensation Kobe Paras, De La Salle standout Jeron Teng and Ginebra playmaker LA Tenorio, topped Team Legacy, featuring the legends of the game in Allan Caidic and Alvin Patrimonio and two-time MVP James Yap, 121-109.
During halftime, Caidic and Rain or Shine’s Jeff Chan engaged in a shootout while Paras and Ateneo’s Thirdy Ravena thrilled the fans in a dunkoff which was highlighted by the LA Cathedral swingman dunking over Teng and Barako Bull’s Nico Salva.
The game also featured a trio of of father-and-son match ups with the PBA’s only rookie-MVP Benjie Paras going up against Kobe while Alvin Teng and Bong Ravena having a rare experience of competing against Jeron and Thirdy, respectively.
Other members of team Destiny were Greg Slaughter, Mark Barroca, RR Garcia and Jared Dillinger while four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio, Olsen Racela, Willie Miller, Mike Cortez and Renren Ritualo were also part of Legacy.
