Blue Eagles, Bulldogs try to sustain Spikers’ run

Ateneo and National University try to sustain their untroubled run as the two elimination topnotchers kick off their quarterfinal bids in the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference Monday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

After sweeping Group B, the Blue Eagles look to stay on top of their game against a young Far Eastern University squad at 5 p.m.

The Bulldogs, who also ruled Group A with a 5-0 card, take on University of the Philippines in the first of a three-game bill at 1 p.m before Emilio Aguinaldo College battles St. Benilde at 3 p.m.

The top eight teams carried over their elimination record, but only against the squads that also reached the quarterfinals. At the end of the round, the four teams with the best record will advance to the semifinals.

“We have to be consistent,” said Ateneo coach Oliver Almadro. “This is a different stage, so we expect other teams to level up.”
