Ale Cali’s untimely death on Sunday sent shockwaves through the Philippine mixed martial arts community.
The 25-year-old Cali, one of the premier MMA figures in the country, was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants in Davao City.

Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) chief executive officer Edward Calvo mourned on the heels of the tragic news.
“The PXC Family mourns the passing of one of our best, Ale Cali. He fought with passion and heart, and will be remembered by PXC fans for his smile as much as his lighting fast hands. He will be honored by the MMA community in the Philippines for years to come,” Calvo said in a statement.
Cali became a PXC flyweight champion after beating Jesse Taitano in 2012 but surrendered his belt to Louis Smolka in PXC 41.
His last fight was an upset defeat to Ernesto Montilla in PXC 43 March in last year.
Cali owns a 5-3 record in PXC. CFC
