Ateneo stays unbeaten in Spikers’ Turf behind Espejo

Marck Espejo led the all-out attack of Ateneo as the Blue Eagles pounced on Far Eastern University, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, to stay unbeaten in the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference quarterfinals Monday at the Arena in San Juan.

Espejo steered Ateneo with 20 points, 17 from attacks, while Ysrael Marasigan helped with 17 points, 12 coming from kills, three blocks, and two service aces.

Rex Intal also added 14 for coach Oliver Almadro’s squad, which kept a 4-0 slate to open its quarterfinals schedule.

Teams carried over their elimination round records to the playoffs but minus their wins over eliminated squads.

Greg Dolor was the lone bright spot for FEU (0-4) with 17 points.
