The UAAP on Tuesday released the schedule of the first round of Season 78 men’s basketball tournament.
After a longer wait amid the shift in calendar, the season officially unfurls on September 5 at Smart Araneta Coliseum with the traditional opening ceremonies followed by a double header between host University of the Philippines and University of the East at 2 p.m. and University of Santo Tomas and Adamson at 4 p.m.
Action shifts to the Mall of Asia Arena the day after when National University faces off against De La Salle at 2 p.m. before Ateneo locks horns with last season’s runner-up Far Eastern University at 4 p.m.
Game days are set every Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays while eight play dates are scheduled at the Mall Asia Arena and six at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The anticipated UAAP cheerdance competition, meanwhile, is set in the middle of the basketball elimination round on October 3 at the MOA Arena.
The heated Ateneo-La Salle rivalry takes the stage on October 4 at MOA Arena, before the Finals rematch between NU and FEU marks the end of the first round at Araneta October 7.
