Elmer Salvador ready for Asian Tour challenge

/ 10:34 PM October 04, 2011

The Philippines’ Elmer Salvador believes that he is ready to last the distance again as he prepares for his title charge in this week’s Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) which tees off on Thursday.

The 41-year-old Filipino shot to prominence when he missed out on his first win after getting pipped in an epic playoff battle in the sixth hole in Singapore last month.

After going through that marathon playoff, Salvador feels that he is experienced enough to handle the mental demands of the game and is confident that the fortunes can turn in his favor in this week’s $300,000 full field Asian Tour event.

“I’m playing well and I’m looking forward to a good week. The week in Singapore has taught me how to cope under pressure and I believe that’ll help me,” said Salvador.

While he has set his sights at a good result at the Linkou International Golf Club, Salvador is also keeping a close eye on his position on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.

Salvador is currently in 69th place in the rankings and with the top-60 as the cut-off mark for players to secure their full playing privileges, he is aware of the need to play well.

“I’m prepared for the long run and I’m ready,” said Salvador.
