National College of Business and Arts shellshocked De La Salle University with an emphatic come-from-behind victory, 25-27, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-9, in the quarterfinals of Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference Wednesday at San Juan Arena.
Reyson Fuentes rose up to deny La Salle’s Raymark Woo to ensure the Wildcats 2-2 record in the quarterfinals and the completion of the mind-boggling comeback.
Wildcats head coach Ernesto Balubar said the players did not follow the game plan for the first two sets where they fell early.
“They weren’t following the game plan, we were wasting too many services” Balubar said. “I was fuming but I had to keep my cool so as not to affect the players.”
NCBA started the fifth set strong with a 10-2 run until the Spikers tried to make it close.
A Wildcat foursome scored in double-figures for the now third-seed NCBA with Paul Domingo leading the way with 19 points with Eden Canlas adding 16 and Jason Canlas and Fuentes pitching in 15 apiece.
Woo led the Spikers, which tied with NCBA at 2-2, with 18 points while John Onia and Ralph Calasin added 15 and 13 points, respectively. CFC
