Lemieux tells Golovkin: There will be blood on October 17

Gennady Golovkin has been tearing apart boxing’s middleweight division with the WBA, IBO, and interim WBC titles with him, and this time he has the chance to become its undisputed king.

Standing on his way is IBF Middleweight Champion David Lemieux.

On Wednesday (Manila time) the two met for the Oct. 17 fight press conference and Lemieux went passive-aggressive against Golovkin.

“He’s a great fighter, he’s done a lot of great work in the middleweight division but I’m not here to be his friend, I’m here to be his opponent,” Lemieux said in a report from BoxingJunkie.com “There will be blood.”

Both fighters are making their debut as headliners in a pay-per-view fight.

“This is the biggest present for everybody,” Golovkin said. “Not just for us, not just for me and for you, no; for fans, for TV, for history.” CFC
