A UST reunion in Globalport is set as Jervy Cruz has been shipped to the Batang Pier.
The Batang Pier acquired the 6-foot-4 forward from Rain or Shine, dealing Jewel Ponferrada and the Batang Pier’s 2015 second rounder in exchange.
The Office of the Commissioner approved the deal on Tuesday.
Cruz leaves the Elasto Painters fort after six fruitful seasons with coach Yeng Guiao where he helped Rain or Shine win its first title in the 2012 Governors’ Cup.
The 28-year-old Cruz will be reunited with coach Pido Jarencio, his mentor in the collegiate ranks where he won the 2006 UAAP title with the Growling Tigers and the 2007 UAAP MVP.
“Jervy’s championship experience is invaluable,” said GlobalPort team manager Bonnie Tan. “He’s a guy we really wanted and we want to recreate the magic he and coach Pido had back in UST.”
