LeBron James excited to see Filipino fans anew
NBA superstar LeBron James is looking forward to seeing Filipino fans anew after more than two years.
James is due for a showcase at the Mall of Asia Arena at 7 p.m. Thursday night, same place where he first met the basketball-crazed Filipinos in 2013.
“I’m excited to be around those fans again. It was exciting time two years ago. I’ve looking forward this for a while now,” James said during the brief press conference at the House of Rise Thursday afternoon.
For the Witness History Tour in 2013, thousands fans had to camp out for days just to get tickets at Nike’s flagship store in The Fort.
This year, tickets for the Nike Rise event were given for free online but all were snapped up in minutes.
James will be working out with the Rise Kids, 25 players chosen from around the Philippines who have been training together for the last 6 weeks, and a few players from the collegiate leagues and the PBA.
“(I’m excited) for the kids. They get a chance to play in that crowd. They should just soak it and just have fun with it,” James said.
