V-League: UST takes solo second with 5-set thriller over UP

UST survived a grueling five-setter and claimed solo second in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference, drubbing UP,  18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 17-25, 15-9 on Sunday at San Juan Arena.
EJ Laure steered the Tigresses, scoring 15 points, 12 from kills and three from blocks, while Mela Tunay returned to the court and added 13 in the victory.
At 4-1, their win placed UST over NU and FEU, as well as set them chasing Ateneo for the top spot.
Diana Mae Carlos led the Lady Maroons with 21 points, 13 from spikes, six service aces, and two blocks in the defeat.
Justine Dorog and Isabel Molde both got 17 in the great showing for the youthful UP squad.
However, the Diliman ladies committed 40 errors which proved to be their undoing in the match. JE
