Ginebra takes 1-0 lead in PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarters
MANILA, Philippines — Burly import Nate Brumfield bullied his way to a game-high 24 points to help Ginebra upend Rain or Shine, 100-91, and take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-three quarterfinals series in the 2011 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Gin Kings saw their 16-point halftime lead dwindle to just five, 70-65, after three periods but their steady shooting down the stretch restored order en route to the win.
“We need another win to advance so we don’t get to relax the next game,” said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico.
