Amir Khan may just get the mega-bout with Manny Pacquiao that he’s been asking for.

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum confirmed that the eight division world boxing champion’s side is now exploring options for a possible fight with Khan.

“This takes time and I will present everything to Manny and we’ll see what happens,” he told World Boxing Scene.

If this match gets Pacquiao’s nod, it would likely be slated next year as Pacquiao is still recuperating from the shoulder injury he suffered during the buildup of his fight with Floyd Mayweather last May.

It would also be the next best thing for the Britain-born Khan, who was shunned by Mayweather who picked Andre Berto for his next match in September.

In a radio interview with Dubai Eye 103.8, Khan expressed his optimism for the Pacquiao fight, saying that he believes “the fight can happen and he’d love to take that fight.”

The potential Pacquiao-Khan fight would pit the two boxers who rose to prominence under the watch of Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

Khan (31-3, 19 KO) left Roach in 2012 after consecutive losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia.
