Mapua, which squandered an 18-point lead in a loss against Jose Rizal University in the first round, maintained its composure in the dying seconds.

The Altas clamped down on the Cardinals in the fourth quarter with a 23-9 run anchored by Bright Akhuetie.
But it was a case of too little too late for Perpetual Help.
Allwell Oraeme led the Cardinals with 19 points and 15 rebounds while Exequiel Biteng and Justin Serrano added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Akhuetie led the Altas, who dropped to 7-3, with 18 points and nine boards.
