Messi named Best Player in Europe

When it comes to football and accolades, Lionel Messi does not mess around.

The 28-year-old Argentinian continues added another hardware in his already stacked collection when he won the 2014-15 UEFA Best Player in Europe.

It was the second time Messi won the award, the first player to achieve the feat, edging Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and FC Barcelona teammate Luis Suarez.

The award was announced on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) during the Champions League group stage draw.

Messi was acknowledged after the striker amassed 58 goals and registered 31 assists in all competitions last season, helping FC Barcelona win the rare treble. IDL
