Barangay Ginebra San Miguel made time to fulfill a soldier’s wish when the well-loved franchise played an exhibition game against members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines on Friday at Camp Aguinaldo.
But as star guard LA Tenorio had found out, the short moment spent was as gratifying to him and the rest of the Kings as it was to the soldiers.
“It was a very nice experience. We had so much fun as a team,” Tenorio told INQUIRER.net. “But more than that, the experience was very fulfilling because we saw how our soldiers really had so much fun playing with us and to eat with us.”
The 31-year-old Tenorio also posted a photo of the team in a boodle fight with the soldiers on his Instagram account.
“That is our small way of showing our appreciation to everything that they do for our country and to protect our country,” Tenorio said.
The time spent with the soldiers also served as a chance for the players and coaching staff led by head coach Tim Cone to bond outside the gym.
Ginebra is in the midst of its preparations for the 41st PBA Season which opens on Oct. 18.
