RAIN OR SHINE signed Maverick Ahanmisi, the surprise third overall pick of the PBA Draft, to a maximum two-year deal for rookies.
Management and the former D-League standout agreed to a P4.5 million contract spread over the next two seasons, a deal that comes a day after Talk ‘N Text inked No. 1 Moala Tautuaa and second overall choice Troy Rosario to three-year pacts.
Ahanmisi, born in California to a Nigerian father and a Filipino mother, will immediately play a key role in the guard rotation of the Painters after TY Tang, a reserve guard, announced his retirement on Wednesday at the age of 30.
Ahanmisi played four years for the University of Minnesota and was the starting point guard of the Cafe France Bakers, who ruled the D-League Foundation Cup last June. He averaged a shade under 14 points and close to seven rebounds per contest.
The deal will have Ahanmisi receiving monthly pays of P150,000 in his first year and P225,000 in his second season with the E-Painters. Musong R. Castillo
