Lady Chiefs stay in V-League semis hunt

Arellano University kept its slim semifinals hopes going after ripping also-ran La Salle-Dasmariñas in the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference Saturday at Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Menchie Tubiera unloaded 13 hits for the reigning NCAA champion. The Lady Chiefs stayed alive but their road to make the semis is far from over.

Arellano must beat St. Benilde in next and hope that either of the three teams in University of Santo Tomas, National University and Far Eastern U won’t win more than four games for the Lady Chiefs to forge a playoff for the final semis berth.

Skipper Christine Rosario, Danna Henson and Shirley Salamago combined for 23 points for the Lady Chiefs.

Mariebeth Lara and Cherry Nunag had eight points apiece for the Lady Patriots, who slipped to 1-5.
