National University buried University of Santo Tomas with an avalanche of attacks in the third set en route to a 25-22, 25-23, 25-11 victory in the quarterfinals of the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Collegiate Conference Sunday at San Juan Arena.

Roma Doromal launched a lefty crosscourt kill that sealed Lady Bulldogs’ fifth win in six games while dealing the Tigresses their second loss in six outings.

NU head coach Roger Gorayeb now braces for the semifinals where his team will have to survive on its own without its best player in Dindin Santiago-Manabat.

“We’re thankful we’re into the semifinals but we don’t have Dindin with us,” Gorayeb said as they notched solo second place in the standings.

Manabat will have other priorities that will coincide with the semis.

NU ended the third set outscoring UST, 7-1. Carmela Tunay scored the Tigresses only point, a meaningless one, since the Lady Bulldogs were already in match point when she scored.

Manabat led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points while Myla Lablo added 11 while Jorelle Singh and Jaja Santiago each had 10 points.

Tunay led the third-seed UST with eight points. UST was at the mercy of NU’s 37 spikes as the Tigresses only registered two blocks.
