Riding high after a stunning comeback win over North Korea, Perlas Pilipinas made it two in a row after handing Sri Lanka a 65-45 beating Monday in the 2015 Fiba Asia Women’s Championship in Wuhan, China.
The Nationals on Sunday went on a 6-0 spurt in the final minute to shock North Korea, 68-67.
Shelley Anne Gupilan led the Philippines with 15 points while Ewon Arayi had nine markers and six steals.
A 17-0 tear in the second period allowed Perlas to runaway and take a 16-point lead, 36-20, at halftime, a lead the team never relinquished.
The win put Perlas in a first place tie with Malaysia, which dealt the Filipinos an opening day setback, at 2-1.
