From Quirino Grandstand to Quirino Province.
Ten motorbike clubs, with a hundred riders in total, are expected to take the challenge in the Quirino to Quirino Motorbike Ride on September 11.
The 350-kilometer road trip highlights the double observance of the 125th memorial celebration of former President Elpidio Quirino and the 44th founding anniversary of the province of Quirino.
Starting at 4 a.m. on September 11, bikers will take on the road for six to eight hours, going from the Grandstand, through North Luzon Expressway, before getting to the provincial proper, to culminate in a fellowship night on the same day.
“We want to continue the things President Quirino [had] done. Let’s preserve, protect, and promote [them],” said Elpidio Quirino Foundation president Cory Quirino in the weekly PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate on Tuesday.
“It’s [the] beginning of a tradition: Q to Q, in honor of a president [who] led us and given us legacies to remember,” said Quirino governor Junie Cua, whose province has been dubbed as the Motorismo Capital of Northern Philippines.
The motorbike road trip is just one of the events slated in Quirino Province’s Panagdadapun Festival which begins on September 4, along with the staging of the Guro to Pangulo marathon in commemoration of former President Quirino, who was the country’s first teacher-president.
