A THREE-DAY motorcycle event will roll off Sept. 11 to commemorate the 125th birthday of former President Quirino and the 44th founding anniversary of Quirino Province.

Dubbed “Quirino to Quirino (Q2Q),” the event gathers around 500 motorcycle enthusiasts at Quirino Grandstand in Luneta who will travel 350 kilometers all the way to Quirino Province, which stages the annual Gov. Junie E. Cua Motocross Cup.

Q2Q was launched yesterday at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum at Shakey’s Malate with Cua and Cory Quirino, trustee and president of the Elpidio Quirino Foundation, heading the guests.

“This is going to be the beginning of a tradition in honor of a President who led us and gave us legacies to remember,” said Cua, who will host a fellowship night with Rep. Dax Cua for the participants on Sept. 11.

Quirino, television host and granddaughter of the late president (1948-1953), was also joined by Raymond Gabriel of Together We Ride and Toto Villanueva of Touratech in the session presented by San Miguel Corp., Accel, Shakey’s and Pagcor.

“Through this (event), we want to deliver a message of statesmanship. That from a very humble barrio teacher, he rose to become the highest official of the land,” she said.

Among the participating biker clubs: Club 200, Any Time All the Time, Ducati Touring Team, Moto Club Riders, Brotherhood of Ducati Diavel Philippines, Guns Motorcycle Club, Batangas Ducati Club, Ducati Unlimited Club, Saturday Posers Group and Angeles Ducati Club.
