Ateneo continued its perfect run in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference as it shook off National University, 15-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23, Saturday at San Juan Arena.
Bea De Leon turned to her defense to end the match, stifling Aiko Urdas with the block and giving the Lady Eagles a perfect 7-0 record and the no. 1 spot in the final four.
Alyssa Valdez broke the 23-23 lead with an off-the-block kill to give Ateneo the match point.
“Everyone contributed, the bench, the coaches, and especially the girls on the floor,” Valdez said of the victory.
She added they had a hard time converting their offensive sets to points especially in the first set.
“We had a difficulty in our blocking and our offense did not work very well.”
Valdez once again led the Lady Eagles with 28 points while Amy Ahomiro added 10.
Myla Pablo and Dindin Santiago-Manabat led the 5-2 Lady Bulldogs, who settled for no. 2 in the semifinals, with 14 points while Jaja Santiago added 10.
NU will clash with the No. 3 squad, which is still being settled as of posting, in the Final Four.
