It took Jerie Pingoy two years before he could finally make his UAAP debut for Ateneo.
Pingoy needed to serve a two-year residency as per league rules when he opted to transfer to Ateneo from Far Eastern University where he starred for the Baby Tamaraws.

But Pingoy’s collegiate debut didn’t exactly go the way he wanted it, with him going scoreless and the Blue Eagles getting clobbered by the Tamaraws on Sunday.
Pingoy, though, said he wasn’t “frustrated,” nor was he being “too eager,” despite going 0-of-4 from the field.
“I’m not frustrated and I didn’t think I was too eager, but we’re not making out shots,” Pingoy said after Ateneo took a 24-point beating which was the school’s worst loss in recent memory.
Pingoy said hearing his former school’s drumbeats felt good in his ears but added that he has “no regrets” choosing to play for Ateneo instead of staying with FEU.
He also praised FEU, which is tagged as this season’s early favorites.
“They’re really a good team and they’re mature.”
Pingoy vowed Ateneo will be able to bounce back right away.
“It was a lesson learned for us. For sure, (in the) next game we’ll be able to bounce back. We’ll get it right away, promise.” JE
