Arellano University rode the back of its frenetic point guard as it repulsed San Sebastian, 86-76, in the NCAA season 91 men’s basketball tournament Friday at San Juan Arena.

Jiovani Jalalon registered his third triple-double of the season finishing with 18 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds as the Chief gained solo third with a 10-4 record.

Chiefs head coach Jerry Codiñera said they had to overcome San Sebastian before going up against the “Big 3” of Mapua, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and San Beda.

“This is the last game for us before going up against the Big 3 – Mapua, Letran and San Beda, that’s another level,” Codiñera said.

Jalalon’s 17 assists tie MVP Scottie Thompson’s mark for the most assists in Season 91.

Dioncee Holts had a near double-double for the Chiefs with 11 points and nine rebounds while Allan Marquez added 10 points.

Bradwyn Guinto led the 3-10 Stags with 19 points and 15 boards.
