Top picks Tautuaa, Rosario make Texters debut
This early, the league’s new twin towers is excited for the future of Talk ‘N Text.
Playing for the first time under the Tropang Texters, top rookie selections Mo Tautuaa and Troy Rosario admirably held their ground when they faced off against former Gilas colleagues in the Master Game Face MVP Cup on Friday.
The two rookies, who have only been practicing less than a week, made contrasting impressions on their debut.
Tautuaa dazzled with 16 points and two rebounds as a starter, while Rosario struggled with five markers and four rebounds.
Despite the short preparation, they are already seeing positives with their new squad.
“In practice, we could see it already. We played together in Gilas so we know how each other likes to play and it’s showing in practice already,” said Tautuaa. “We’re just getting incorporated to the rest of the team and I think it’s working well.”
Rosario, meanwhile, believes that the best is yet to come for them and is wishing that they could sustain their impressive showing for Gilas in the Jones Cup.
“Sana maipakita namin yung ganung laro namin from Jones Cup. May mga nabubuong chemistry na rin naman kami sa Talk ‘N Text,” he said.
As much as the two want to tame expectations, it’s already a given that a lot of responsibilities for Talk ‘N Text will immediately be vested on their shoulders.
But Tautuaa downplayed the hyped and is focused just focused on playing the best for the Texters.
“We’re going to bring our best foot forward and play our best, our hardest. If it turns out well for us, it’s great. We’re hoping that it all turns out well for us,” he said.
