Being one of coach Tab Baldwin’s final cuts in the 12-man lineup for the 2015 Fiba Asia Championship, one must wonder that Gary David must have been a bit disappointed.
A part of the silver medal-winning squad back in 2013 and the World Cup squad in 2014, the Bataan native holds no grudge and remains a good soldier as he acts as a reserve for the Gilas Pilipinas squad.
“Kahit na papaano, ever since naman na napasama ako sa pool, alam kong kahit anong mangyari, I’m honored. Wala namang problema sa akin,” he said.
(At the very least, ever since I got to the pool, I knew that whatever happened, I’m honored. It’s not a problem to me.)
Together with Troy Rosario, David is still practicing with the squad, ready to come in if anything untoward happens to anyone in the 12-man lineup.
The Meralco Bolts guard said that he understood the situation and was personally asked by coach Tab Baldwin to stay with the team.
“Kinausap naman ako ni coach Tab e. Hindi ko naman siya puwedeng hindian. Ayoko rin naman maging isa pang problema sa kanya, kaya hangga’t makakaya ko, makakatulong o makakasuporta, gagawin ko,” said David.
(I was asked by coach Tab. I can’t say no to him. I don’t want to be another problem for him, that’s why as much as I could to help and support, I’ll do it.)
