Ateneo kept its unbeaten mark as it blanked University of Santo Tomas, 27-25, 25-16, 25-17, to move within a win of a finals berth in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference Saturday at San Juan Arena.

Bea De Leon and Alyssa Valdez led the Lady Eagles’ attack to bring down the Tigresses who, after putting up a standing in the opening set, just dwindled the rest of the match.

De Leon and Valdez churned out 16 and 15 points, respectively while Amy Ahomiro backed them up with 10 markers.

It was just a far superior performance for Ateneo, which has a chance to wrap it on in game 2 on Sunday, dominating in almost all divisions including blocks (11-7) and service aces (11-5).

“Good blocking, defense,” said Ateneo coach Tai Bundit.

The Tigresses, meanwhile, just didn’t have enough firepower to match the Blue Eagles with no one finishing in double digits.

Ennajie Laure had nine points, Ria Meneses had seven while the rest of the team pitched in 17 points combined.
