V-League: UST snaps Ateneo’s 10-game win streak, extends semis series

The University of Santo Tomas proved everything has an end as it ripped Ateneo apart, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22, extending its semifinals series in the Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

EJ Laure fired off 17 points for UST as the Tigresses snapped the Lady Eagles’ 10-game winning streak in the off-season tournament, which started on Ateneo’s opener against UST.

UST tied the semifinals series at 1-1 with a third and deciding game on Wednesday as National University waits for its finals opponent.

UAAP MVP Alyssa Valdez led Ateneo with 24 points, 18 off spikes, while Bea De Leon and Kim Gequillana had 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Carmela Tunay added 15 points for UST, while Marivic Meneses and team captain Pam Lastimosa had 12 and 10 points, respectively. JE
