Petron falls in AVC Women’s Club opener

Petron Blaze Spikers ran out of gas and stumbled against the North Korean side April 25, 13-25, 18-25, 11-25, Saturday to start their campaign in the 2015 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship at Ha Nam Competition Hall in Vietnam.

Reinforced by Brazilian import Rupia Inck Furtado and setter Erica Adachi, the reigning Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix champions struggled to jell early and paid dearly for it.

Furtado was off in her first game for coach George Pascua as she had seven points from only five kills and a service ace.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat added seven points, while Aby Marano got four in the defeat.

VTV Cup MVP Jong Jin Sim pummeled the Blaze Spikers with 20 points, 19 coming from attacks.
