Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino will finally move down in weight class, but it won’t be for the much-anticipated megafight against UFC champion Ronda Rousey. At least not yet.
The Invicta FC featherweight champion will be moving down from 145 to 140 pounds, the catchweight for her upcoming bout at Invicta FC 15 in November against a still unnamed opponent.
In a report on MMA Junkie, Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp bared the development for the November card headlined by the strawweight duel between the promotion’s 115-pound champion Livia Renata Souza (8-0) and Alexa Grasso (7-0).
The official date and location for the event are also yet to be announced.
Justino’s move to cut down in weight could also be her first step in making the Rousey fight happen along the way.
The Braziilian Justino (13-1) has previously eyed to move down in weight class after dominating the competition outside of UFC.
She also tried to convince Rousey to fight at 145 pounds or at a catchweight of 140, but the reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion refused any compromise and insisted that she won’t agree to fight unless it’s at 135 pounds.
In a previous report, Justino said that she would feel that her career wouldn’t be complete without having fought Rousey.
