Reigning Philippine Superliga champion Petron redeemed itself from a blowout loss with a straight-sets win over Azad University of Iran, 25-8, 25-16, 25-23, in the 2015 Asian Women’s Club Championship late Monday night at Ha Nam Gym in Vietnam.
Dindin Santiago-Manabat led all scorers with 15 points while Brazilian reinforcement Rupia Inck Furtado added 11 points for the Blaze Spikers.
Petron bounced back from a 13-25, 18-25, 11-25 setback at the hands of April 25 of North Korea on Saturday in its opening game.
Manabat and Furtado were a force at the net combining for nine blocks with the former National University star denying five scoring opportunities for the Iranians.
The Blaze Spikers aim to improve their standing against Japan Tuesday night.
