Retired? Floyd Mayweather will fight again — Amir Khan

Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have retired but British boxer Amir Khan thinks it won’t be long before the undefeated American puts his gloves back on.

Khan said that Mayweather would eventually come back for what he left on the table.

“Why match his [Marciano’s] record and not beat it?” said Khan told TalkSport as posted on BoxingScene.com.

“Why not do something that no other fighter has done? He will wake up one day and think why am I only matching that record.”

The 38-year-old Mayweather formally announced his retirement after scoring a one-sided victory over Andre Berto last Sunday (Manila time) that tied him with the late former heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano with a 49-0 record.

Khan, the former champion, also doesn’t believe that Mayweather is not who he claims to be as ‘TBE’ or the best ever.

“I think he is one of the top names – he could be in the top five names in the world,” Khan said. “If you look back in ten years time at his record, he will be respected. But when you hear people like Mayweather say he was better than Muhammed Ali and that he was the best ever, I don’t agree with that.”
