Salud calls for support for Gilas Pilipinas

PBA president Chito Salud finally spoke about the issue surrounding the league and Gilas Pilipinas.

The former PBA commissioner, who assumed the role of the chief executive officer this year, said that he is grateful to those who have dedicated their time and effort for the national team.

“I’m often asked what I think about the absence of sought out players. I have nothing but gratitude to those who have played, are playing, and will play in the future,” Salud said in a speech at the 2015 PBA Press Corps Awards Night on Wednesday at Century Park Hotel.

He, however, asked the public to rally behind the Gilas Pilipinas squad and look at the positives.

“I want to focus on the silver linings, from giving our opponents the element of surprise to widening our pool in the future,” he said.

“With the Philippines back in the world stage, the PBA will continue supporting Gilas. For us to have more exciting times, it will be key for all of us to stick together, battle through differences, find a common ground, and keep advancing the ball.”
