The race for the Final Four continues to heat up.

Jose Rizal University kept itself in the running for the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament playoffs, dealing Letran an 86-80 defeat Friday at San Juan Arena.

Paolo Pontejos sizzled with 21 points, nine coming in the fourth, on a 4-of-7 shooting from threes. He also had five assists and three rebounds.

“Buhay pa (We’re still alive.),” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses. “One game at a time. We still have a chance, so let’s do things right. We won this game because of execution, extra pases, and their willingness to compete against Letran.”
