Far Eastern University came alive late for a 75-58 win over University of the Philippines Sunday in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Mike Tolomia led a balanced attack by the Tamaraws with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists while Raymar Jose posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

“It’s a hard earned win. This week will be a tough one for us as we face three pressing teams,” said FEU coach Nash Racela.

Roger Pogoy steered FEU to an 11-0 run in the third quarter that turned a three-point deficit to a 51-43 lead. The Tamaraws carried over their momentum fourth period — going on another telling run, this time, a 12-0 tear to break away from a 53-49 spread and take a 65-49 lead.

The victory tied FEU with University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo in first place with similar 3-1 slates.
