Wesley So held fellow super Grandmaster Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France to a draw in their first round-of-16 match Sunday to keep his bid alive in the 2015 World Chess Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Cavite-born So, who now plays for the United States, clash with the favored Lagrave anew on Monday with So switching to white.
The winner will advance to the quarterfinals. So has not beaten Lagrave in seven previous matches.
