Miesha Tate, the former UFC No.1 contender in the women’s bantamweight division, believes she’s not getting her due at this stage of her career.
She took a swipe at UFC president Dana White, claiming that he is not giving Tate enough opportunities for the good fights.
“I’m very frustrated with the UFC. I’m not in a position where I feel like I need to be pushed around and, ‘Oh, you take this fight, take that fight,'” Tate told Ground and Pound TV. “It makes no sense to me why I’m not the champion and yet I’m fighting all the No. 1 contenders.”
The 29-year-old Tate feels she is fighting the better fighters as compared to Ronda Rousey, who she said is being paired with lower-ranked fighters but is still getting paid more than her.
“Amanda Nunes is ranked No. 4 and Holm is ranked No. 8. What is wrong with that picture? I’m not the champ and I’m fighting better girls than the champion is fighting and I’m not getting paid what the champion is getting paid,” Tate vented.
“It’s the champion’s job to fight the best girls in the world. When I’m the champion, we’ll talk. I’m just in an awkward stage of my career. I don’t know what the next best step for me is but I do know I’m not going to be pushed around by anybody.”
Tate has been on a resurgence — winning her last four fights — after losing three of her previous four. Two of those losses came at the hands of the undefeated champion Rousey.
As per mmamania.com, Tate is “still seething” over the UFC’s decision to deny her of a third fight against Rousey.
