CKSC five gains Jumbo Cup semis

National University completed an eight-game sweep of the elimination round with a 97-70 drubbing of University of the East, even as Chiang Kai Shek College took the last semifinal berth on Sunday in the 2nd PCABL Jumbo Plastic Linoleum Cup at Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in Quezon City.

John Clemente scored seven of his 15 points in the opening period that saw the Bullpups race to a 29-13 lead they protected to the end.

As the No. 1 team at the end of the eliminations, NU enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage when it battles No. 4 CKSC in the next round.

The Blue Dragons finished tied for fourth to fifth places with University of the Philippines Integrated School at 4-3 despite absorbing an 80-64 loss to the Ateneo Eaglets. But CKSC advanced by virtue of the winner-over-other rule to set up a semifinal clash with the Bullpups.

Ateneo, which finished No. 2 with a 7-1 record, collides with No. 3 Far Eastern U in the other pairing after the Baby Tamaraws clobbered Hope Christian High School, 79-43.
