LONDON — Arsenal defender Gabriel Paulista has been given a one-match ban by the English Football Association after admitting a charge of improper conduct.

The 24-year-old Gabriel was sent off during the Gunners’ 2-0 league defeat at Chelsea following an altercation with striker Diego Costa.

Arsenal successfully appealed that dismissal which carried a three-match suspension.

However the FA suspended the Brazilian following his refusal to leave the field immediately after his red card. He will now miss Arsenal’s trip to Leicester on Saturday.

Gabriel was fined 10,000 pounds ($15,167).
