Bombers boost NCAA Final 4 bid
Wining just six of its first 12 games, Jose Rizal U looked like it was going to miss a trip to the NCAA Final Four race three weeks ago, but a stunning turnaround has boosted the Heavy Bombers to a share of fourth spot with only a handful of playdates remaining in Season 91.
Although the race remains a six-team battle with San Beda and Letran on top, the Bombers seem to have gotten the inside track ahead in the postseason race after their victory over Perpetual Help last Friday at Filoil Flying V Arena.
The Bombers slipped past the Altas, 62-60, for their fourth straight win.
And with a lighter schedule ahead of them, the Bombers look a cinch to make it back to the postseason for the second straight year.
“The last two games will be crucial,” said Bombers coach Vergel Meneses. “If we will not play the way we played in the past four games, it will be useless.” Cedelf P. Tupas
