Chinese Taipei bucked a slow start to snare the 2015 World Cup of Pool title with a thrilling 10-8 victory over England B in the Finals Sunday at York Hall in London.

The duo of Ko Pin Yi and Chang Yu Lung battled back from 5-1 and 7-4 deficits against the feisty combo of Mark Gray and Daryl Peach, and in the end, erased the bitter memories for Chinese Taipei, which only got to as far as the semifinals in the previous editions of the tournament.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to win the World Cup of Pool and we are both very proud,” said Ko to Matchroom Pool. “Personally, this adds to a great year. I have won the 10-ball, 9-ball and now the World Cup titles.”

It also caps a sweet couple of weeks for Ko, who emerged as the champion of the WPA World 9-Ball Championship in Doha.

The second-seed Philippines, represented by Carlo Biado and Warren Kiamco, was surprisingly sent to an early exit, bowing out in the second round after losing to eventual finalists England B, 7-4.
