Alcala rips Mandaue badminton foes
Mark Shelley Alcala snared two titles in the National Finals of the 2nd Sun Cellular National juniors badminton tournament at JCentre Mall in Mandaue City over the weekend.
Alcala reigned supreme in the boys’ 19-Under with a 21-14, 22-20 win over Kerr Longno and topped the boys’ 17-U after a 21-10, 21-8 triumph over John Mark Valenzuela.
Aldreen Rae Concepcion also turned back Celine Etjelle Tolentino, 21-16, 21-15, to top the girls’ 17-U while the 15-U winners were Arthur Samuel Salvado Jr. and Mikaela Joy de Guzman.
In the 11-U singles, Mark Anthony Bernal downed Dashiel Requina Indelible, 21-9, 21-13, and Reshane Marie Nicor bested Andre Alexis Macalalag, 21-14, 17-21, 22-20.
Other doubles winners were Arthur Salvado-Jennifer Helyn, mixed 15-U; Carl Bernard Bejasa-James Ryan Villarante, boys’ 15-U; Karylle Kaye Baguio Molina-Jennifer Saladaga, girls’ 15-U; Cody Torres-Anne Lorraine Cario, mixed 17-U; Ron Danelle Cabalquinto and John Arl Parantar, boys’ 17-U; Janelle Anne Andres-Beatrice Aurelio Felizardo, girls’ 17-U; and Kerr Longno-Jayklord Nicor, boys’ 19-U.
