THE FIRST Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Asia-Pacific goes to triathlon hub Cebu next year.
The event started in Cebu with 583 athletes in 2009 and the roster has grown since then. This year’s staging drew a record 2,618 participants from 52 countries and six continents with slots sold out in 40 minutes and 500 people on the waiting list.
This prompts Ironman 70.3 to choose the Philippines for the first ever Cobra Energy Drink 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, giving the honor to Cebu.
“Cebu has hosted the successful Ironman 70.3 Philippines triathlon the past five years and will provide our athletes with a beautiful and challenging championship course,” said Geoff Meyer, chief executive officer for Ironman Asia-Pacific.
Meanwhile, registration for the 2016 Cobra Ironman As-Pac opens today at Cebu Provincial Capitol from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.
