Rising Stars » Kid has sweet tooth for golf

Hole-in-one.

Choosing three buckets of golf balls over overflowing candies at Halloween—at the age of six, that just shows how dedicated Santiago Cuyugan is to golf.

Santiago, a grade one pupil at Everest Academy, fell in love with the sport at the age of four seeing as his grandfather, Faustino Dy Jr., is an avid golfer. His father, Marvin, meanwhile, had to get into the golfing habit just to keep up with his son.

It’s more than just a hobby for Santiago as he already competed and bagged a silver medal in the P.I. Kids tournament in Riviera Golf Club, and also qualified for the Junior Golf Team which represented the country in San Diego, California for the six-and-below age group.

Strange as this may sound, Santiago, who idolizes Tiger Woods, loves it if his balls find the bunker because, as he claims, he is great at bunker shots!
