Gilas point guard Jayson Castro was chosen by INQUIRER.net readers as the player who showed exceptional performance during the national team’s campaign for the Fiba Asia 2015 championship and a slot in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Readers answered the poll posted on the INQUIRER.net website which asked: “In a week of strong performances, which player stood out in the Fiba Asia tournament?”

Castro got 3,258 votes or 47.95 percent.

Meanwhile, Gilas big man Andray Blatche placed second in the poll, gaining 1,533 votes or 22.56 percent.

Blatche is followed by Terrence Romeo with 1.074 votes or 15.81 percent, then by Calvin Abueva with 713 votes or 10.49 percent.

Meanwhile, 217 readers said they had other players in mind.

Gilas’ Rio bid fell short after being beaten by the big and relentless China on Saturday, 78-67, and settling for a second place finish in the tournament.

Castro was also hailed as Asia’s best point guard after being named to Fiba Asia’s Mythical Five after the China-Philippines fight.

The INQUIRER.net poll is not a scientific survey. It is an interactivity tool that can, within its limits, reflect the interests of online readers.  AJH
