Maraño brings more than her swagger to Army in V-League

Aby Maraño has no shortage of swagger.

From her beast-like howls during her days in La Salle to her unwavering intensity in Meralco, Maraño always has that oomph in her game that separates her from the rest.

And as she plies her trade for the multititled Philippine Army in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference, Maraño has brought her identity to her new team.

“She just brings a lot of swagger to this team,” said Army coach Kungfu Reyes after his team rolled over Kia in three sets on Sunday.

Reyes said Maraño, who has played with Philippine Army before in another tournament in Tuguegarao, has no problems with adjusting to his system.

And that Maraño’s leadership is also another intangible that’s been crucial to the Lady Troopers.

“I can see the leadership of my players, obviously Tina Salak is the leader, then there’s Jove [Gonzaga], Nerissa [Bautista], and of course Aby,” Reyes said. “They are leaders of their respective schools.”
