PBA agrees to move Govs’ Cup to accommodate Olympic qualifiers
The PBA on Wednesday announced it would adjust its calendar for its 41st season in accordance to the Olympic qualifiers which would happen in July.
PBA Board Chairman Robert Non said the league would move the schedule of the Governors’ Cup to allow the players time for the qualifiers.
Article continues after this advertisement“The PBA agrees to adjust its calendar for the 41st season to accommodate the participation of the PBA players in the qualifying tournament, specifically by adjusting the PBA third conference which shall start after the end of the qualifying tournament on July 10, 2016,” Non said.
Furthermore, the 17 players in the pool are given every Monday starting November to attend the weekly practices.
Non said there would be 28 Mondays overall allotted for Gilas practices in between the training of the players with their mother ballclubs.
Article continues after this advertisementAn adjustment in the PBA schedule was also done in preparation for the 2013 Fiba Asia Championship when the Commisioner’s Cup was nudged.
