PGF Club Champions tourney set

Representatives of 24 golf clubs are set to clash for bragging rights in the Philippine Golf Foundation National Tournament of Club Champions slated Oct. 19 to 24 in six different championship courses.

Revived by Inquirer Golf after a two-year hiatus, the tournament will pit the best golfers of Aguinaldo, Alabang, Anvaya, Ayala-Greenfield, Bevery Place,  Eagle Ridge, Forest Hills, Iloilo, Lakewood, Manila Southwoods, Manila Golf, Mimosa, Mt. Malarayat, Orchard, Rancho Palos Verdes, Royal Northwoods, Royale Tagaytay, Summit Point, Tagaytay Highlands, Tagaytay Midlands, Valley, Villamor and Wack Wack.

Former champions Rodel Mangulabnan (Royal Northwoods), Diane Jang (Manila Southwoods), Carmela Lee (Ayala Greenfield) and Matet Salivio (Aguinaldo) are in the field.

To be disputed in the event also backed by Champion, Sta. Lucia Land, Haier, GG&A Club Shares, Petron, Nike Golf, Mizuno, TaylorMade, Mikaela Trophies and Golf Distributors Association of the Philippines as major backers and Turf Company/Texas Eagle as hole-in-one sponsor are the men’s division, senior division and the ladies’ division crowns.

FEATURED STORIES

Cleanpak, Magsaysay, Titleist, Panahon TV,  Enterpro and Verde are the other sponsors.

Also coinciding with the event is a competition among golf club general managers, golf directors and sponsors and guests.

The tournament starts with the seeding stroke play round this Monday at Eagle Ridge Aoki.  The match play phase starts Oct. 20 at Sherwood Hills while the round of 16 will be at Ayala South Links on Oct. 21.
